Podcast recording

At our podcast table in Amsterdam we capture up to four hosts at once on separate tracks, with a calm control room and an engineer watching levels and bleed while you keep talking.

Three podcast hosts at table with microphones and engineer behind.

A show sounds amateur when one mic serves a whole table or when one voice dominates the file. At Milepostvivo each speaker gets a dynamic on a boom arm; we monitor in the control room and fix technical hiccups without hijacking the conversation.

The session fits interview shows, news roundups, internal company podcasts and narrative pilots. The standard session fee includes basic editing: trimming silences, cutting obvious false starts and a consistent export — not elaborate sound design or jingle production. Routes and hours: contact and FAQ.

Process

  1. Booking

Share format, speaker count, target length and delivery date. We reply within 2 business days with terms and a 30% deposit request.

  2. Layout

Mics at mouth height, pop filters, headphones for monitoring if wanted. Water and notes on the table; phones on silent.

  3. Recording

Multitrack capture with marker notes for edit. Breaks when you want them — we watch the meters.

  4. Basic edit and export

Trim, remove false starts, light level balance per voice. WAV per speaker plus stereo mixdown; link within a few business days after the session.

Formats and audiences

Two co-hosts, three panellists with a moderator, four voices around one table — the setup scales within the room. Amsterdam companies wanting an internal show without home-room echo, creators preparing a network pilot, and independent journalists needing a clean archive all fit this service.

We do not record live audience; the focus is speech quality. For music beds or heavy sound design we point you to mixing or external post.

Room and gear

The podcast table sits in a treated corner at Helmersstraat 73, not on the large live floor — fewer reflections, more direct speech. Dynamics reduce room noise; boom arms keep hands free for notes.

We record to separate tracks so one speaker can be turned down later without touching the rest. 24 mic options are available when a voice needs warmth or rejection.

What basic edit covers

Yes: shorten long silences, remove clear false starts and double-takes, level differences between speakers within reasonable margins, exports with aligned starts.

No: music beds, sentence-by-sentence noise reduction, chapter markers for every platform, translation or transcription. Continue yourself after delivery or discuss heavier mix work with us.

Host preparation

Send a rundown with segments and timings, speaker names and pronunciation notes. Avoid rustling coats and jewellery on mics; drink water, skip crinkly packaging at the table.

We do not standardly record remote guests on phone or VoIP — you may supply clips to place in edit if you handle sync. Note who presents each segment so edit does not guess which voice belongs to which intro. Questions: 020 244 8619 or [email protected].

Frequently asked questions

How much fits in two hours?

Plan setup plus one continuous conversation of thirty to fifty minutes net. Several short items back-to-back works, but leave breaks for voices.

Do you deliver a ready RSS feed?

No. We deliver audio files; hosting and metadata for Apple, Spotify or your CMS is yours or your podcast host’s job.

Can I bring my own mics?

By arrangement if compatible with our preamps. By default we use studio dynamics so everyone shares the same baseline.

Is transcription included?

Not in the base fee. Send WAVs to a transcription service; we cannot guarantee word-level timing.

What if a speaker drops out?

Separate tracks let you add a remote catch-up later; heavy reconstruction sits outside basic edit and is quoted separately. Tell us when booking so we leave headroom in the session plan.
